Leigh Dodds' online notebook.
Why is it called Wordtin?
At infant school, whilst teaching us to read, our teachers gave us lists of words to learn. As we advanced the words got more complex. The words were printed on small laminated rectangles of card to save on wear and tear. To help keep the words safe in the trips to and from school, I used to keep them in a small metal tin. One that my grandfather used to keep tobacco in.
Imagine having a tin containing all the words that you know how to read? Your entire vocabulary in a small metal box: a word tin.
The name seemed like a good fit when I was thinking about having a site into which I could pour my rough scribblings and notes.
